THROW AWAY THE WHIP

Which whip? The one we’re constantly flaying ourselves with. Hurry up, you’ll be late for office. So slow, everyone else has finished their workout. Look at where your classmates have reached in life and look at you. Come on, no way will she be impressed with such a sidey gift? Hurry, hurry, there’s so much to do.

Come to think of it, when are we not putting pressure on ourselves, castigating ourselves, demoralizing ourselves? We cast doubts, make critical judgments, never let ourselves enjoy the moment or what we’re doing.

But the doing, the journey is life, not the end result, not winning or getting ahead of everyone else.

So why don’t we just drop our whips, stop being a Hunterwali or Sridevi from Chaalbaaz/Mr India and just allow ourselves to be? Let’s love ourselves, accept ourselves and just make the most of every opportunity that comes to us today — doing, experiencing, learning, laughing, enjoying.

Let’s really start being nice to ourselves. We deserve it.
