Heather’s Gallery

I stumbled upon Heather Galler’s Etsy shop by accident while looking for “artsy shirts:”

What writer or poet wouldn’t want this silk shirt emblazoned with Edgar Allen Poe’s likeness? (Unfortunately, it’s $155.00, so I haven’t ordered it yet. Maybe when I get a book contract…)

Heather Galler characterizes herself as a folk artist. If you like her colorful rendering of Edgar Allen Poe above, you might also like some of her other portraits (click on the images to see enlargements and captions):

Not only is Frida Kahlo a favorite subject, she is also one of Galler’s influences.

Other favorite subjects include cityscapes:

New Orleans

Seattle

Amsterdam

Isn’t this EXACTLY what you want on your couch?

I’m SURE my dentist wants this for his office.

I’m not sure if I love this tote or if I’m afraid of it:

Galler loves animals:

And especially dogs:

I imagine you could find any breed you’re looking for on Galler’s Etsy site, HeatherGallerArt.

If you would like Galler to immortalize your pet who has passed on, she is happy to do that for you virtually for free. Read more about her Passed Pet Project. The waiting list is currently three years long.

If your pet is still living and you’d like to commission a portrait, Galler can do that as well. Contact her through her Etsy shop for details.

While some of the custom-made items are costly ($160 for a shower curtain, $175 for the toothy bag), most of Galler’s artwork is priced very reasonably. Prints start at $24, ceramic tile coasters start at $12 each, and in early May, many of her original paintings were on sale for $210 or less.

Galler is also the author of a new book, Folk Art Fusion, a 128-page instructional book with 16 folk art painting projects.
