Acknowledging these “elephants” should be unsettling. Our current practice and systems in school don’t hew to these truths very much if at all, and that should leave us wondering about how effective our schools actually are at preparing our kids for their real lives.

The fascinating thing about what’s covered in this article is that there are so many people in the educational space that find themselves nodding along with the points here. Then we head into our classrooms and offices the next day and go back to doing what we know isn’t working. We fall back into the system. I’m excited for the groundswell to come when that’s no longer the case and we make the difficult shifts we know need to come but struggle to make real.
