How Tech Can Help Save Democracy
Ben Rattray

Given the expanding availability of technology tools to enable individuals and communities to achieve a great many desired outcomes, and perhaps some undesired ones, rather than make existing institutions built for different ages more robust, is it worth rethinking the very nature of government itself, and the role it plays in the lives of the governed? Other than the somewhat important context of an historical remnant, we should ask ourselves, why do we have a government, and what do we want from it? The answer to this question alone will reveal a great many different answers, and underlies a great deal of the cultural divide.
