Florida Progressives?

While I admire the courage of Kristin Beck, who challenged Steny Hoyer in the primaries, as well as Matthew Fogg, who as a US Marshall challenged the DOJ and won, the reality is that neither candidate was well positioned for their congressional run. Similarly, Lawrence Lessig was never going to be given a chance by the democratic establishment to actually run a presidential campaign almost exclusively on a platform of campaign finance reform — Lessig would be better suited as the Supreme Court Justice to replace Scalia or as the new President of Cooper Union.

But Florida’s Tim Canova, much like Jamie Raskin, is in an excellent position to bring a principled JFK-esque liberal into the forefront. That he is running against the same democratic chairwoman who forbade Lessig from debating on the national stage adds to his appeal. While it is unprecedented for a party’s chair to face a very serious contender, Tim Canova is armed with connections, grit and the truth. Advancing to high levels within a political party increasingly dogs one’s popularity even amongst voters of that party. As we watch Helen Purcell & Alexis Tameron go unpunished for fraudulent voting in Arizona, we only hope Tim can ensure unbiased vote counters in his district. Should he capitalize on his edge and defeat the democratic chair in a congressional primary August 30, it would send waves of reform throughout liberalism in America.

The Florida race for senate is also an interesting one as courageous firebrand Alan Grayson seeks to overcome the financing of his establishment opponent Patrick Murphy in the Democratic Primaries, also August 30.

As my focus zeroes increasingly on the ground in New York, I still wish to highlight the parallels between the two biggest Atlantic states for a bit longer. Even the twitters of corporatist governors Andrew Cuomo (D -nygovcuomo) & Rick Scott (R -flgovscott) appear to have been picked at the same meeting.

Still believe firmly in transparency & government accountability. As promised, when Bernie got cheated, I campaigned for President Trump.
