Where do Canada’s federal political parties stand on autism?
Kathleen O'Grady

We must have

Canadian National Autism Program

1 Better early intervention programs, without long waiting lists everywhere in Canada.

2 We should have national standards of services agreed, so people do not have to move province to access better care

3 Better and more school programs

4 Far more attention paid to adults with autism, particularly in the provision of group homes and residential care for those severely affected.

5 Better support for caregivers, particularly respite care

6 Employment equity

7 Raising awareness of the public of the issues faced by those with autism, and useful ways to support them.
