Strong/Severe Storms Likely Tomorrow

A very potent storm system is set to bring another round of strong/severe storms to Alabama tomorrow.

Let’s look at what we can expect…

*Placement: I note the guys at SPC have placed pretty much most of Alabama in a standard “slight risk” for tomorrow afternoon…

*Timing: There remains some uncertainty in dealing with the timing of the storms, but for now the main window for storms will come from about 10:00 am through 6:00 Monday evening. These times will likely need to be adjusted before the event unfolds.

Here is the NAM model valid at 11:00 am tomorrow morning…

*Impacts: The Good news is this does not appear to be a significant severe weather setup as parameters are low and not impressive. Main threats will come in the form of damaging straight line winds, hail, and potential for more flooding. The tornado threat will be low, but certainly not zero so I can’t rule out an isolated tornado or two.

*Bottom Line: There remains some uncertainty in the forecast and this will likely change before the event unfolds. Remember, we live in Alabama and there is little skill in dealing with any type of system and we always have to expect the unexpected when it comes to storms. The main important thing to do is to just simply stay weather alert tomorrow. I will have more updates to come later so stay tuned…

Enjoy the afternoon!
