When it comes to Social Media and teens, usually people start pointing out the bad outcomes, but it is said it can be helpful toward society. Today about 75% of the teens currently have profiles on social media in the United States, and 68% of the teens use Facebook as their main social networking tool. But people question, “is this a good thing”? Social Media basically began in the early 20th century, and it’s still popular today. Adults, Teens, Kids uses this social media to communicate with each other. CNN and the Huffington Post have different ideas. Both of these sources gives different opinions on how Social Media can be positive or how it can be some sort of, “self destruct” for teens..

First of all, CNN reports is bias toward Media, it supports how social media can be helpful. The way the title is told gives a positive way of perception. “The upside of selfies”,it’s told that social media is known to be bad. But the article is telling them it’s not bad after all. The heading is “ Social Media isn’t all that bad for kids”, it’s reminding what most of the society thinks about social media, and telling them that it’s not bad after all. When it comes to teens and media, Adults cant really pop out a positive outcome. The Author gave interviews on mothers opinions looking at social media, and they said, “When they post selfies, all comments you usually see are “You’re beautiful, ‘You’re so pretty”. Also he interviewed the teens, and they’ve also said Social Media is more positive than negative. Their was a survey handed out to random teens, between that age 13–17 years old, 52 percent of the teens said social media made them feel better against 4 percent who said they affected them negatively. The Author showed Bias and supported on how Media helped, it even let the teens speak for themselves.

On the other side, The Huffington Post showed Bias against the CNN report. They weren’t really in favor on how Social Media interacted with teens. Their tittle was, “Influence of Social Media on Teenagers”. The title is direct, it’s neutral. But on the first paragraph he mentioned how It’s important that the readers know on how teenagers are the ones who are the heaviest users for media. It clearly stated, that teenagers spent a lot of time in social media, which I don’t disagree. Personally I go on social media every single day since I got my phone. The Author also stated on how cyber bullying, sexting, and depression, had a big part of Media. People can get emotionally affected and affects the way of living.

Finally, CNN and The Huffington Post had different ideas. They are both different resource centers, and The Huffington Post gave people the information that about everyone knows, It’s been told that Media isn’t that good. Out of these Bias resources, the CNN gave people new information. not that many people knew there was abright side, of social media because kids, teens have often been a victim of cyber bullying. But CNN pointed out that it gives confidence toward on another, and positive comments can help people feel better through the day. Everyone knew the negatives on the Social media, but it’s time for society to know it can has its positives too..
