Introducing a New Platform for India
In late 2022, AngelList and Wellfound (formerly AngelList Talent) completed the separation of their domains, codebase, data, and infrastructure, resulting in phenomenal product velocity. We got inspired, and decided to shift into a higher gear ourselves. Today, we are excited to announce the launch of a new platform, purpose-built for the Indian private markets.
As the venture landscape in India matures, the needs of our users continue to evolve. Fund managers and investors rely on us to simplify the inherent complexities of running a venture operation and managing a venture portfolio — so they can focus on investing in exceptional companies. Similarly, founders rely on us to simplify fundraising and investor relations — so they can focus on building exceptional companies. We are grateful for their trust. A dedicated platform will improve this experience and further strengthen our brand in the region.
To build this platform, we prioritised what our users asked for — including the ability for leads to set custom parameters, a great first-mile experience for LPs, up-to-date portfolio data, and institutional-grade reporting. We also applied learnings from managing assets worth over ₹2000 crore, including 1050+ SPVs (syndicates) and 215+ RUVs across 800+ companies.
The platform is designed with ownership as the fundamental unit of value so it can support both AngelList India’s current and future offerings. We are excited about the agility this gives us in meeting users’ evolving needs, and in adapting to changes in market, securities, and data regulations. Based on user feedback, we may also introduce a mobile app to complement the platform.
The launch is just the first step. In the coming weeks and months, our users will experience a new look and feel, along with several new platform capabilities. These capabilities, designed around the compliance requirements of our fund structures, will eventually be compatible with the unique compliance requirements of external fund structures as well. We are exploring this path to build an infrastructure layer for venture and the broader private markets.
