Northeastern University Engineering Professor Wins Fulbright Award

An engineer with years of experience in executive leadership, Angelo Robert Santamaria most recently served as vice president of global manufacturing at Oasys Water in Boston, Massachusetts. Angelo R. Santamaria holds both a BS in electrical engineering and an MBA from Northeastern University.
Northeastern recently announced that an engineering faculty member has won a Fulbright scholarship. Professor Laura Lewis has won a US Fulbright Scholar award to conduct research on magnetic materials at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid in 2018 and 2019. The Fulbright US Scholar Program provides grants to 1,200 professionals each year to conduct research or teach in other countries.
Professor Lewis’ research will build on her years of scholarship in this field as she works with professor Manuel Vázquez in Madrid to find new applications for magnetic nanowire. The unique properties and atomic arrangement of magnetic nanowire could lead to its use in a diverse array of applications, such as monitoring the integrity of bridges.
