Wondering Eyes

Some days, I find myself sitting at the library at university and letting my eyes wonder around the space.

There are so many different faces here, yet the only thing that comes into my mind while staring aimlessly at these strangers is: “I wonder if they’re smart students?” Do they have high scoring GPA’s? Do they spend a lot of their time studying? Do they have jobs or are they just full time students? You never actually know what the go is with these people unless you talk to them, but in reality, the chances of actually getting up and starting a conversation with one of them are unfortunately slim to none. Not necessarily because I am shy, but because they actually look like they would rather be anywhere else in the world. Uni does that to people, even I feel myself looking like that. My resting bitch face is definitely on point today.

In all honesty though, I don’t just do it at university. It happens everywhere I go. I just start staring at people and try to imagine their lifestyles, imagine what they do for work, do they have families, are they earning a steady income, are they millionaires? All things you wouldn’t know until you sat down with a person and dug deep into their subconscious. They could tell you everything about themselves, but only when you build a profile for them is when you know who they truly are. I think I may be watching too many episodes of criminal minds lately.

But now that I think about it, it’s what I’m doing. I’m creating descriptions of these people to create a profile for them, turning them into something not even they thought they were.
