Destination #5: Los Angeles…

After three rainy days in Chicago, I was more than excited about ending up in the hot and sunny land of California for the first time of my life… California owns a very mythical worldwide image and sounds like the place to be for surf, sun and beach… Let’s see how my first Californian experience started in “LA”…

I will always remember this night I arrived, I took off the bus, everything already dark around, looking for my hostel at “Venice Beach”…

I encountered one single road with nothing around, just some bars and people talking outside, a lot of lightings and the beach at the end.

I felt like I was in a movie scene…

Welcome to Venice…

And as soon as the next day started, an amazing blue and sunny sky in front of my eyes, this weird nightlife atmosphere turned into a busy and chilled one, “Californian style”…

I could see people of every range of age all walking around, enjoying the animation in the air or the live artists performances. You do not have to pay anything there, everything is free… Just let your eyes opened and you could enjoy the continuous and live show of the street !

After walking around all those funny shops that sell you any type of things (tattoos, skateboards, massages, fast food, etc.) if you go on, the floor becomes grass and sand.

Before laying on the beach you will hit for sure the most unbelievable skate park I have ever seen, and no matter the weather neither the time, you could assist a very high level show of skateboarders rolling, jumping and flying above the ocean horizon in the background…

At sunset time, the atmosphere cannot be more peaceful with the sky turning into a moving painting, the people chilling around, the sand in your feet, and the ocean natural music in the background… At this time, I started feeling the Californian way of life…

North Venice Beach, I enjoyed as well the fancier atmosphere of Santa Monica, walking along the famous Pier very animated between the patient fisherman waiting to catch some fishes and the live singer playing the guitar…

The last mythic thing not to miss in LA of course is the famous Hollywood Boulevard… It is a funny thing to do, walking along this boulevard while watching the floor, trying to catch the star of your loved celebrity…!

So I played the game with my Inkkas, walking on the stars…

Finally, I would say that my favorite moment will remain when I was just laying on the beach, just after the sun disappeared and before the night settled, the busy “LA” turns into a poetic and magic place to be, when the last surfers come out of the ocean and the sand gets cold…
