When the rain came

When you lived in all sad song refrains

When none knew what I knew

When skies of powder blue were grey

When night was day

When the laughter of others
was a poison that played
upon my ears

When loss careered through me
in waves of ice

When I looked for you in others eyes
who looked for their missing in mine

When we blurred the lines we crossed

When we tossed on crumpled sheets

When my heart beat out the cost
that lost love metes out

In my memory
