Most of the reporters there aren’t trying to cozy up with sources or the people they’re supposed to cover. They’re trying to feel cool because they’re among celebrities. I agree with Foster that the real slimy boundary-crossing by journalists with those they’re supposed to hold accountable happens on a day-to-day regular basis, not at some once a year event. The event is really about fameless journalists seeking to seen with actual famous people.
