lackluster effort when he had the chance to dive on a fumble in the 4th quarter
Why You’re Wrong About Cam Newton (And His Presser)

The chorus of Cam Newton’s criticism

I’m not a Panthers fan. Yet, if anything, I could identify with Cam’s postgame interview (or lack thereof)…

I know from watching my own hometeams that seeing a rawness of emotion and genuine affliction in players make me, the fan, feel better. It often deepens my bond by imparting some sense of remorse and mutual loyalty — the manifestation of “misery loves company.” Maybe it even stoke empathy from my own experiences as an athlete, having been plunged into the trough of despair. (I’m not here to psychoanalyze.)

That all said, Cam Newton’s above endearment was more than displaced by his two faux pas from Sunday night

  1. Writing on the ground in a temper tantrum (4th quarter)
  2. Heartless fumble recovery attempt

The latter is particularly unacceptable within any context.
