Do Not Forget The Animal
Being human can make you crazy if you allow it.
Being human is a challenge.
We’ve convinced ourselves that we aren’t animals and I think that’s the main reason why some of us are so unhappy and losing our minds. I wonder if animals have as much problems as we’ve created for ourselves?
Evolution, progress… whatever you want to call it is excellent, well done to us. But we are approaching a point of no return by way of technology. The saying “Everything in moderation” is too relevant today for a couple reasons.
No other animal on the earth has something in their pockets they can use to distract themselves from the present moment. Think about this for a second, technology is a tool as much as it is a vice and it’s having effects on our minds that I don’t think we’ll understand until maybe 5 to 10 years from now. I thought reading all these medium posts and having a kindle on my phone would’ve benefited me some how… at times it doesn’t feel that way.
Technology is a tool as much as it is a vice..
It’s taking us to this new place where we will soon forget what we really are… animals.
We shy away from discomfort daily.
We distract ourselves and try to escape for some of us that’s a daily mission.
We are disconnected from our food in a major way.
Most people I know barely have time for themselves and wear the busy badge pretending they’re making some sort of progress in life. But what is progress if one isn’t mentally sound? Then when people get time they spend it in dark rooms where loud music plays while drinking poison.
A weekly cycle of work Monday to Friday, wishing for Friday to come so they can finally go to the dark rooms and escape this horrible existence we’ve created for ourselves.
Is this the life we’ve worked so hard for?
Malnourished missing out on sleep, hating Monday.
(Thankfully there’s a trend of healthy eating taking place. We need to do a lot more than this though…)
There’s nothing wrong with drinking poison in dark rooms by the way. But I don’t think it should be abused as a constant use for escape.
There’s different ways to get back to the animal, arguably that’s one of them. But a lot more is needed, exercise, some kind of meditation, some kind of discomfort, change in routine and time away from our devices the list could go on forever. Find time for yourself away from your phone. Find a way to take care of yourself mentally, physically and spiritually… if you believe in that type of stuff.
