Sure, what I thought he was referring to was likely pre medieval to early medieval society. In those times the law gave a husband full rights over his wife, whether she was a Noble woman or a commoner. She effectively became his property.
Svetlana Voreskova but I have to say, it’s very hard to buy your argument in which men were equally treated as poorly as women were throughout history. I certainly never heard of these hundreds and hundreds of cases because there are not that many. You could probably cite a few, but when it comes to women, it’s not even a comparison.
Even today, look at some of the more extreme Muslim societies, does that look like women are equal to men? I’m not sure if you can consider it the modern version of women as property, but when these Muslim guys have 4–5 wife’s and treat them inhumanely, it might as well be property, on the same level as a dog would. There is no such thing in these societies as women having 4 husbands and abusing them daily, women getting beaten or rocked to death is a very common occurrence when compared to those acts happening to men.
