When I read the part asking whether Americans would even understand Oleg’s decision to go back home, I immediately said in my head, “well as an Indian I do.” While watching the show I hadn’t even considered that the usual American pov might not think of Oleg’s choice in the same manner I do. Anyway, the very next line you mention your friend Gulu’s perspective (I naturally gasped at the coincidence when I read it) and I have to say they’re right. LOL
