Absolutely! 100% agree. It’s one of the reasons why advice from successful people can’t be blindly applied to us all. There’s a lot of luck, network effects, psychology, timing and a variety of other factors in play. It’s not to discredit the hard work and skills of those geniuses, but to recognize that our circumstances are unique and sometimes (more often than not) we need to work through our own ways without guidance from those who walked a different (though definitely brilliant) walk of life.
