GRAVITY

What is it that keeps us here
Returning life after life
As beautiful as it is
It’s not an easy existence
So much pain and suffering
Amidst the endless beauty of nature
Is it love
Is it relationships
The never ending existential question…
Inspired by Sara Bareilles song “Gravity” from the 2007 album “Little Voice”. When it came out, this song rocked me to my core and got the little voice inside to open up and speak to me again.
The lyrics are perfect for the way I felt, trapped in my life at the time, my inability to escape the reality I found myself in. It began a search to free myself and live in tune with my essence I put aside so many years ago.
“Gravity” by Sara Bareilles
“Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do
I’ll still feel you here ’til the moment I’m gone.
You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much
Than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.
[CHORUS:]
Set me free,
Leave me be.
I don’t wanna fall another moment into your gravity
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I’m supposed to be.
But you’re on to me and all over me.
Oh, you loved me ’cause I’m fragile
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while
And all my fragile strength is gone.
[CHORUS]
I live here on my knees
As I try to make you see
That you’re everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you’re neither friend nor foe
Though I can’t seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you’re keeping me down.
You’re keeping me down, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
You’re on to me, on to me, and all over…
Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.”
**A refreshing change from the typical North American view of Earth**
India is currently the object of my attention. When you get above 5,000 feet its trails are traversed by women and children carrying leaves for their goats and wood for their fires. Here, away from all the trash and the animal and human urine and feces, that litters its streets below, it’s a magical world where monkeys, tigers and snakes still live a peaceful existence on this beautiful Earth we currently call HOME.

As for why we are here…we all arrived after the great explosion of light, rays traveling through the Universe in search of something new…an adventure into the unknown. When will we return back to the source? Ha…when we are all ready to return together, having played our individual parts creating the drama on the big blue green planet called Earth. It certainly hasn’t been boring!
That’s my version. What is yours?
