Have I Slept in Your Bed, Yet?

Almost a year ago, I landed in the Big Apple. I came to the city for a ten-day stay that included pursuing a number of professional opportunities, exploring the local culture and staying in a peer to peer listing on the Upper West Side.

Like the start of any great love affair, my New York City experience was pure magic. I was spending my downtime in a wonderful apartment with a roommate that shared my affinity for NBA basketball. My work obligations were on track, and I was able to meet up with friends that I hadn’t seen in a while.

However, I was in a race against time as my adoration for Manhattan grew but the window of availability at my temporary home was coming to a close. So, this was when I packed my bag and decided to date the city.

From Chinatown to Harlem, I started living like a native New Yorker utilizing the power of the shared economy.

I will confess. In the beginning, I did conduct myself like a jilted ex-girlfriend, relishing the endless supply of housing options. One night stays were quite the norm. The desire to check out a different neighborhood each day was a thrilling adventure. And, the stream of diverse hosts was fun.

These days, I tend to stay a little bit longer. Sometimes my visits are 2 days and if I like you, I may extend my time for a week. Regardless of the length of my stopover, I am gaining an invaluable education that I will share with you in my upcoming posts.

Whether you are new to peer to peer platforms or an experienced participant of the shared economy and on demand apps, this journal is sure to answer the questions that you have and the ones you may not know to ask yet.

I look forward to introducing you to the people, places and things that I find inspiring (and helpful)in this dynamic community.
