Chronicle of Our Little Trip Out West

Last week proved to be another exciting one for ApplyKit. Our app is on the edge of a full release (if you want to test the beta version, head over to applykit.com/appcomingsoon and enter your email), our marketing cannons are loaded and ready to fire, and we got to visit with Chegg.

About Chegg

Chegg is a massive public company and one of the biggest players in the education technology. Chegg was founded in Santa Clara in 2005 as an online textbook rental company. Any college student who has ever purchased a textbook knows that they are insanely over-priced and renting them is the way to go (psst — current college students, check out Chegg.com and save yourself a bundle…high school students, remember Chegg.com). Chegg quickly grew and went public on November 13, 2013 on the NYSE.

Chegg is rapidly growing as it extends its reach into tutoring (over 1 million students helped) and internship/job discovery. They are clearly aiming to be a one-stop shop for all students as indicated by their motto “The Student Hub”.

Our Trip

As you can imagine, given Chegg’s enormous influence in the industry, we were quite excited to have the opportunity to fly to their office to give a private demo of our soon-to-be-live mobile application, College Match. We had been receiving incredibly positive feedback after showing it off for the first time at this year’s NACAC Conference and had this positive feedback further validated by taking the crowd favorite award at this year’s TechOut, but the opportunity to present to Chegg was certainly a significant step for our company.

The demo went extremely well and we are so thankful to Chegg for having us as guests. Stay tuned for the big app launch announcement coming soon!

What’s a company trip without pics? Here’s a mini photo album. See more by following us on Instagram: http://instagram.com/applykit.

1. Airplane selfie rocking the Chegg sunglass. Stunna shades!

2. Beautiful San Francisco

3. Stanford University. We are a college match-making company, so how could we not swing by one of the nation’s greatest schools?

4. Chegg’s name is a squird (squished word) of chicken + egg.

5. Chegg’s office is pretty sweet.
