Our little school has had three principals in four terms, bridging for a new permanent administrator next year. I’ve been a fan of how both of the “new people” who came in operated. They focused on care and relationships first. Then made the teaching load a little lighter for staff where they could. Then, when everyone was onboard, started the push with staff towards making some changes and improvements that were “good for kids” and cleared the slate for the incoming principal. Tough gig, but the people over policy route that they’ve taken has been appreciated and effective.
I hope you are able to find the time to share your journey Mark (or is it Maverick now? ;-) St Martha will be a richer place for having you.
