Why do you need a Moto G Turbo — the latest Moto phone? — a review
Moto G Turbo has a 5-inch HD IPS screen, near vanilla Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (with a planned future upgrade to Marshmallow) software, 13-megapixel rear facing and 5-megapixel front facing camera.
Battery and charging
Moto G Turbo has a 2470 mAh battery inside. Both the Moto G (Gen 3) and Moto G Turbo Edition come with similar sized non-removable batteries. Battery life is good on both phones. While Moto G Turbo supports fast charging — TurboCharging — the Moto G (Gen 3) doesn’t. The TurboCharger supplied with the Moto G Turbo will provide up to 6 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging. The Moto G (Gen 3) on the other hand takes its own time to charge fully. Another small but, important thing to note is that the Moto X Play (that also supports fast charging) doesn’t ship with a TurboCharger inside the box. The Moto G Turbo Edition does.
Memory and Processor
The Moto G (Gen 3) was launched with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. Moto G Turbo Edition on the other hand, has a Snapdragon 615 processor — a true mid-range processor. What does this mean? — Everything will be a little faster or sharper than before. The Adreno 405 inside the Moto G Turbo will give you good graphics performance, which is a major improvement compared to Moto G (Gen 3). The display is sharp and app handling is fast and smooth. It will also give a very good gaming experience because of the much better graphics. Moto G Turbo is a ‘mini’ version of the Moto X Play (without the Moto X goodies) at a much lesser price! Who would say no to that? The Moto G Turbo Edition comes with only one variant — 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory.
Priced at Rs. 14,499.
While the Moto G (Gen 3) is only IPX7 certified, the Moto G Turbo is IP67 certified. What does this mean? — The Moto G (Gen 3) hasn’t been certified to hold dust. It is however, water resistant. The Moto G Turbo Edition is both dust and water-resistant. This makes the new Moto G Turbo a truly rugged smartphone (How many times have we dropped our phones in water and prayed that nothings happens?). The Moto G Turbo can withstand harsher environment when compared to Moto G (3rd Gen).
