Despite how intelligent we may be as individuals we are still just a school of fish collectively. We flit about based on cues taken from the direction of those around us. Marketers refined and polished the tools of mass manipulation starting over a century ago. The second world war saw the first real weaponization of those tools and now that social media has begun to mature it is only natural that it would be weaponized as well.
