I appreciate you writing this people are quick to think that we just give up all guns and everything rights itself. Unfortunately our founding fathers were painfully aware of what an overzealous regime can and will do when it thinks it’s subjects cannot stand against them. If we start to surrender our rights we will be forfeiting them all over time. If an unarmed populace demands reform what would it’s government do? Would they rush to create an equitable solution or would they ban free speech and keep said protests out of the media? I’d imagine it would be easier to suspend free speech then create a greater pressing issue to keep the serfs busy, like a food shortage or an economic crash. No one will care about freedom of speech if they are all worried about if they still have a job or have to wait in line for government food rations.

Bottom line once you start surrendering your rights it won’t stop until they have taken them all and the promise of security or safety will only last as long as we still have something of value worth taking.
