And yes, that’s Bob Dylan performing under an earlier alias, Blind Boy Grunt — just one of the HUNDREDS of mint Folkways recordings we will be featuring this year at our sale.

ARC began the sale in 1989 and it has grown into a major NYC event attracting more than 2000 shoppers. To goal is to raise funds for the library by disposing of the 10s of thousands of redundant recordings, books, posters, DVDs and memorabilia donated every year.

The sale is free to everyone at greatly discount prices — far lower than other stores or online — cheaper than downloading! In this way we have built a loyal fan base and made a great many new friends.

ARC members are offered the opportunity to shop early and join us for an opening night party June 7. The party is sponsored every year by individuals and corporations who believe in our mission. Past sponsors have included, Time Warner’s, BMI, Atlantic Records and the Elad Real Estate Group.

This year’s Party is generously sponsored by the Beggars Group and their exciting new preservation initiative, The Beggars Arkive. Projects include reissues for The Fall, Pixies, Peter Murphy, Bauhaus and more. Beggars care passionately about sound quality, quality re-issues, artwork and occasional fancy packaging. Fiercely independent for more than forty years, the Beggars Group represents the best independent labels, 4AD, Matador, XL Recordings, Rough Trade & Young Turks. Have a look at some of their reissues here: https://archive.beggars.com/

As always party food is donated by our pal Phil @ Two Boots Pizza and wine from City Winery!
