Great essay and focus suggestions. Nice clean prose as well.
I always suggest to folks that one hallmark of a healthy organization is a focus on your customer outcomes, and the blueprint (process) that gets you to the outcomes they need, with an occasional glance at your competition in the rear-view mirror.
A major hallmark of a dysfunctional organization is an obsessive focus on the outcomes of competitors — or even worse — internal leaders and orgnanizational units.
If you are looking too much at others or looking backwards — you’re going to go in the wrong direction. The body follows the head.
