I keep getting more and more surprised at how much better spider-man games have become with time. Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions is a great example of what I am talking about. I believe this game had great influence from the PS1 games that were based on stages instead of an open world enviroment, of course I could be wrong about that, but the games is Spectacular still and is now my favorite Spider-Man game.

The game's plot isn't great, but acceptable. Old relic with great powers gets broken and spread among 4 different universes, and is up to 4 different spider-mans to retrieve them, the spider-mans in the game are the vanilla spider-man, spider-man from ultimate universe using the black suit, spider-man 2099 and Noir spider-man.

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions uses a few tricks to make every Spider-Man feel unique, and in some parts it does work, however by fighting style they are pretty similar, they just change animations for combos and such.

Let us talk about the 4 spider-man individually now.

Noir: Noir Spider-Man sucks at fighting and has very little health, you must stay in the shadows out of the enemy view and light. While hiding you can execute takedowns and put an end to enemies, but if you are seen you better run because you will barely be able to hit enemies in hand to hand to combats in the stealth areas. Noir, However, can fight enemies in certain moments and in these points he is just like the other spider-mans, but his healthy heals with time, so if you are having a hard time just avoid enemy contact to replenish your health.

Ultimate Spider-Man: He wears the black suit and is probably the strongest of the 4 because of the black suit that gives him the rage mode, a mode that allows area attacks that can kill any enemy really fast. The rage bar replenishes when you punch, so if you have an army in front of you you will be able to clear a room pretty quickly while mantaining the rage meter almost full.

2099 Spider-Man: He doesn't have much, honestly, except fot his time slow down that can be useful sometimes and his gameplay has falling scenes with obstacles that you have to beat without losing all your health.

Spider-Man: This spider-Man doesn't have anything special, he is just the good old parker we are used to.

It's possible to build your characters with the points you get from missions, some upgrades are only for 1 Spider-Man like the Rage increase for ultimate spider-man. In the same section you can buy new suits for each spidey. Also, there are several challenges to do and they will unlock new upgrades and moves for your spider-man.

The graphics are great for its time and could still be released today.

The gameplay is good, web slinging and other stuff are only enabled in some areas, you can also skip past enemies in some areas without having to fight them, but fighting is fun in this game. The attacks snap you to the enemy so no hitting the air like an idiot.

My final thoughts is that spider-man is more enjoyable with cleverly planned stages instead of a big city full of uninteresting procedural side quests and fillers. This is an evolution of The ps1 games for sure.

Cons:
*There's isn't much difference between each spidey

pros:
*Noir gameplay

I rate this game 10/10
