Why, tomorrow, I’m Choosing Bernie Over Hillary.

By Amar Singh Kaleka

In short, I’m voting for Bernie over Hillary because of trust issues. I trust Bernie more. Hillary is also trustworthy. However, something about her political heiress-ness, rubs me the wrong way.

Bernie has been standing up for what is right for thirty years. Thirty years of speaking truth to power and being independent from party politics. Thirty years of elections and doing good for the people, whipping both sides of the aisle into shape.

If you do not know how horrible the two party system is for the sake of our own great nation, then allow me to reiterate. We are quickly becoming a polarized mob of people during these election cycles. The left is comfortable with open protests and demonstrations. The right is comfortable with hate speech and paying legal fees of those who clobber others in broad daylight.

Between both parties, any reasonable person who can read and write, is left with only one real benevolent choice — the Dems. Now, inside of this party, there seems to be some tomfoolery going on. Well, take it from a former candidate, and an insider of the party from three different states (Wisco, Cali, and Georgia), the Dems definitely have a problem that is growing.

Essentially, the party is a blue collar working class group who comes together to discuss politics, unions, and economics. However, since the Clintons left office, the party started slowly drifting towards the financial sector of New York, and thus, towards the elite class of America.

Here, the Clintons and their Dem party, started to dip their hands in a number of large political matters. Doing their job, they did their best to influence decisions in the right direction. Of course, this meant that they became tied to the capital interests of a very cunning, and intelligent ruling class of America. And so did the party.

Bernie — on the other hand, from Vermont, has always been fighting this same elite ruling class because at the core of their decisions is a simple rule: “mine before yours, even though I already have 90% of the wealth of the country”. In short, he fights those who are greedy.

In my opinion, this inequality of wealth is the biggest issue that plagues our time, not just here in the United States, but all over the world. Until we close the gap and solve this divide, we will continue to grow more and more poor. It’s just the way mathematics works. Senator Sanders, having umpteen years of experience in Washington, would change this quicker and with longer standing laws than Madame Secretary Clinton. She might work on many other things, however, this would slip down her agenda, simply because her friends are now elite.

My second, and maybe even more refined reason, for voting Bernie’s way is this:

I cannot stand to watch nepotism win (no matter which political party it is). I cannot stand to see our country turn from a free thinking new world democracy to a monarchy. Yes, I said it. Monarchy. If Madame Clinton wins, that would mean that the past 27 years would look like this:

Bush
Clinton
Bush
Obama
Clinton

Earlier when we realized that nepotism was out of control, it was the horrible and embarrassing election of George Bush, Jr. This election cycle showed the world that America is not invincible from corruption.

Nepotism is the bane of the American dream. It is exactly the reason why our economy is where it is. People hire people based on who they know, and what other tangential deals or incentives come from that hire. But of course, if you are a minority in that system, you will, most likely, know far less people, and thus, will be left out of the parties, the jobs, and the community organizations.

Nepotism destroys the American dream because it removes fairness.

Hillary Clinton is the wife of one of the most revered living Presidents in American history, at a time, when media and literature have advanced to record levels of impressions with one photo.

Is this a fair candidate? My answer, objectively, just like it was when she ran against Obama, would be “no”. At surface level, it seems that she is a darling, not for her own policies and leadership, but because of who she married.

Currently, who speaks for the people better? Right now, Bernie is voicing the real problems of the middle and working class in rhetoric that is hotter and more efficient than normal, because it needs to be that time. He has garnered experience with Washington, and speaking truth to power.

Senator Sanders is one of the last great people to stand up for the always existing, sometimes quiet, but never wavering voters who call themselves, “independents”.

He aims to unify, and takes donations only from the people he is beholden to — citizens. Bernie is exactly what we would want from a President because he has been cleaning up Washington for a long time.

Now, let’s help him get the votes to continue doing his job.
