One of the biggest concerns individuals face when transitioning to a vegan diet is that they consume an adequate amount of protein. Protein is critical because if there is an insufficient amount, the body will start to burn muscle instead of fat for fuel.

Rather than eating meat, you can substitute soy products for it. If you happen to be a cheeseburger lover, you can still enjoy this meal, but as a veggie burger with soy cheese. Baked potatoes, vegetable stir fry, vegetable pizza, and other desired foods are still available on a vegan diet. Thankfully, there are many alternatives to meat that you can substitute, so you can still eat something very close to your favorite food without the animal fat or protein.

Consulting your doctor is a good idea when switching to a vegan diet, as you may end up lacking a few important vitamins. A daily vitamin may be recommended by your doctor, depending on the amount of protein and calcium you are consuming from food.
