Fashion certainly but don’t forget tech…

To a lesser extent, the first company to turn a tech object into a fashion accessory (and thus revolutionize the whole industry at large) was Swatch in 1983. It is no coincidence today that most fashion brands have their own watch range, priced accordingly to their initial positioning.

Apple has always been fashionable since its inception but also with a strong strategic bias — producing tools that perfectly fit in the fashion manufacturing process. With the adoption of NeXTSTEP (based on the Mach micro kernel) as the core of Mac OS X (the latin ten obviously referring to Unix), they have kept a solid, well-defined and well-assumed high tech profile, hence the significant amount of developers working on Mac Books and the like.

So Apple is perhaps one of the few peculiar hybrid tech-fashion joints on the planet.
