Artyst Space Signs Local Artist
Artyst Space, an emerging NFT Marketplace from Southeast Asia, welcomes local artists from the Philippines.
Leading the artists who will venture in NFT through Artyst Space are OPM Legend Joey Ayala, Combatron creator Berlin Manalaysay, Pioneer of Filipino Comics — Kenkoy, Ian Velasquez, and contemporary artist Dave Lock. Their artworks would definitely be notable contributions in the quest to be one of the future big NFT players from Southeast Asia.
Happened last May 20th at Max’s Scout Tuazon, the four local artists signed a deal with Artyst Space giving rights to produce, exhibit, and market unique Non-Fungible Tokens. The artists are closely working together with Artyst Space for their projects that are expected to drop very soon.
Along with the signing was the excitement about the partnership from both of the parties. According to Gabriel Mendoza, CEO of Artyst Space, the partnership aims to preserve and celebrate local icons as well as to establish a clearer Artist-to-Collector relationship. As for the 4 inaugural talents of Artyst Space, the excitement was brought upon the idea that this is their first step into the world of NFT and Blockchain Technology with the exemption of Dave Lock who has already sold an NFT independently.
NFTs or Non-Fungible Tokens are Digital Representation of Art powered by blockchain technology — making sure that the ownership of the copy is legitimized via code.
NFTs or Non-Fungible Tokens rose to prominence in 2021 with reports that NFT marketplaces and collections zoomed up from 106 million dollars in 2020 to 44.2 billion dollars in 2021.
Some local artists who have found success in this fast-rising industry include Heart Evangelista whose collaboration with Cryptopop sold at approximately 17.35 ETH which is around 3.6 million pesos. Also, Luis Buenaventura II whose largest sale was valued at over 19.5 million pesos.
