I am here to tell you to share your talents and skills in order to create a life of satisfaction and greatness for yourself and others.

The study and perfection of our skill set is the only way to create fulfillment during this earthly existence. Do not ever abandon your talents. In the event that you become discouraged or disenchanted, take a little time off. Just be sure to return to them. Only through the development of your finer faculties can you experience conscious lasting growth.

Don’t Sabotage Yourself

We often dismiss fabulous ideas before we try them. Are we are afraid to realize personal victory? I often ask myself if I have what it takes to show up daily for my own success.

After all, it is so easy to stay in bed. It is so easy not to make that phone call, or approach a potential client. The most ‘committed’ creators seem to sabotage their own success with a lack of dedication, yet we must ask ourselves if we gain anything valuable from inaction.

Humans defeat themselves prior to the start of marvelously rewarding journeys. Instead, we frequently allow our natural aptitudes for achievement to atrophy, and this miserly behavior in regards to our abilities truly is an injustice to the planet’s inhabitants. If we knew millions could benefit from what we each had to offer our fellow man, would it not be worth the struggle of bringing our ideas to market?

Our love affairs with hopelessness and depression cause us to eject ourselves out of the game. We routinely site children, careers, and lack of time as excuses for why we cannot attain our desires.

We may think no one will take an interest in what we do, that the effort required to succeed is too great, or that we cannot monetize our passions. However, we must somehow transcend this place of doubt if we truly wish to affect enduring positive change and resurrect life on our planet.

As the English poet, Suli Breaks says, life is not about how much $change$ you make, but about how much CHANGE you make :)

The Mystery Of Motivation

The root in the word ‘motivation’ is motive. What is YOUR motive? What moves you to action regarding your passion, talent, or skill? Can you clarify this in one sentence? If you will take the time to define this for yourself, you will move with grit and assurance into the direction of your dreams.

Now, I am certainly no Tony Robbins as I find it a bit of a struggle at times to bring myself to write and share. I write daily, journaling sometimes for hours on end, yet, I have trouble maintaining the fire requisite to show up for my audience.

I improve with each passing day however. And in the end, the universe only asks us to show up ready to work and create something new, interesting, and ultimately uplifting.

The Why Question

After much soul searching, I now see the root cause for the lack of desire to follow through with our ideas. I believe we forget, or do not truly internalize the justification(s) for our actions. In other words, we must understand WHY we do what we do.

Identify the exact reason for beginning a task or pursuing an idea. We really need to SEE this within ourselves! If we are not certain why it is we engage in an activity, there is no guarantee that when the task becomes challenging, no one is looking, or we run out of steam, we will continue. Why bother going that extra mile?

In his public addresses, Simon Sinek, author and optimist, asks all aspiring creators to define their ‘why’. It is our why, that determines our what. Clarify your reasoning for the actions you take by asking yourself these questions. Write out your answers with pencil and paper:

  1. What do I spend a significant amount of time doing or thinking about?
  2. Are my motives purely financial?
  3. Do I genuinely want to help others?
  4. What skills and/or tools do I need to accomplish my ideas?
  5. If I go through with my idea, how long am I willing to stick with it if/when the going gets rough?
  6. Bonus: What is it that gives me the feeling of calm and ease?
  7. What activities do I find myself happiest doing?

The very fact that you have an idea that excites you is proof that you already have or can acquire the skills needed to actualize your desire. We need only maintain the requisite state of mind to realize our idea.

If you can truthfully reason through these questions, you will be on the path to finding and maintaining the state necessary to pursue your passion fearlessly and without retard.

Here is a typical scenario:

You become spellbound by an ingenious idea. You are immensely excited. You tell your friends, family, and anyone who will listen about your new found pass-ion. After receiving a bit of positive encouragement, you boldly set out to begin actualizing your idea and then it hits you -the dreaded slump.

A few weeks or months in, out of nowhere, all motivation seems to dry up and we are left with the loan we took out, the gigantic pile of materials we purchased, and a discouraged disposition.

This has happened to this author countless times. If I could have a dollar for every wonderful “sure-to-work” idea I have ever come up with, I could single-handedly finance college for all of Atlanta’s inner city youth!

Ideas are powerful but they require the life blood of follow through to remain this way. You will most certainly follow through if you know WHY, at the deepest level, you pursue your idea.

Forget About Money...If You Want To Be Happy

Lastly, do not overly concern yourself with money when considering your talents and your ability to contribute to society. Simply be useful or create something that is and then share it with others.

As our minds are wired to consider financial stability, we think in terms of whether or not we can monetize an idea instead of how we can be of genuine service to our fellow humans.

With almost 8 billion people on our planet, perhaps millions of the best ideas do not receive the love and attention they need, and hence humanity suffers. We must not be ensnared by the lure of economic rewards. Authentic creators produce purely for the joy of inspired innovation.

Once we are able to leave money out of our decision making process, we can clearly see the beauty in our ideas, how our ideas could assist humanity, and the most efficient way to manifest them.

Money manifestation truly is a by-product of being in the correct frame of mind for an extended period of time. If you are intelligent enough however (and you most certainly are), you can always figure out how to accomplish your dreams, with or without money. Happy Breathing :)
