When Dad isn’t there, a boy’s vision isn’t clear

Try as he might to navigate and steer

He spends a lifetime daily trying to define himself

But with no model present he remains only a broken shell

With no dad around to discipline him in building wealth

He likely turns to drugs and sex which both ruin his health

A boy remains a boy until his father grants him passage

'Til then he’ll go on living a life which is no more than average

Try as he might in life to succeed and prevail

A boy without a father is much more likely to fail

There is a rotting hole in the soul where absent fathers should reside

A mother can never fill a hole this large in size

Yet still a boy confides in his mother’s arms

It’s all he can do when the world portends harm

Images of lions and tigers continuously torment his mind

Because his dad was never there to help him develop a spine

So the boy continues to search out a path on the earth

Though, deep inside he feels that he has little worth
