Most Common Reasons Why Your Facebook Ads Don’t Convert — Slow Loading Landing Pages

Your Landing page is taking too long to load

On my previous post I spoke about Imagery and Copy, however just as those two elements are important for conversion rate, so is the speed at which your landing page loads.

Recent studies by Amazon have shown that a page slowdown of just one second could cost it. $1.6 billion is sales each year. Whereas Google, slowing it search results by just four tenths of a second they could lose 8 million searches a day.

Now these examples may be extreme, but even if your business is much smaller than Google and Amazon, slow load speeds on your landing pages could hurt you a lot.

To ease this pain, we’ll go through a few things together which might cause your page to load slow, and how to improve page load speed.

Let’s Begin and Decrease the Load time of Your Landing Page

1. Use less Images — images are heavy resulting increase in load time, whereas text and the page’s background colour are light. If you find that your page is using loads of images to get the message across rethink your page concept and try to use more description text to get and if you want them to stand out use different fonts or different background colour.

2. Lower the file size of you images — once you have decided, which images to keep, the next step would be to lower the file size. This can be done in two ways, either by decreasing the dimension of the image or decreasing the quality. It’s entirely up to you.

3. Move all JavaScript below tag: If your page has pop windows, analytics tracking codes or animations, then you have JavaScript. Similar to images, JavaScript is extremely heavy. So, what can you do to ease the load? easy, move it to the bottom of your landing page, below the tag, allowing you server to load visual elements of your landing page first, resulting in visitors viewing the page quicker, while the tracking codes and pop-ups, that users either don’t interact with or interact with after reading the page, load in the background.
