Interesting discussion!

One thing to inform the importance of design — are the users returning to the “market” to choose among vendors? Say there are two supermarkets, and one has an annoying layout but lower prices. If you’re only choosing once, then the design premium may well be worth it. But if you’re a return customer, you’ll figure out the inferior layout soon enough, and may decide the savings are worth it. In this case though, there is no savings.

The app functionality will be valuable to returning users, but instructional interfaces like the website and the bike frame text probably won’t be. I imagine of paramount importance will be: app functionality, price, availability, bicycle condition/weight/comfort/smoothness.
