Istanbul… What a great city… NOT!

I hate my life. I hate Istanbul. I hate it I hate it I hate it. I believe God, if he even exists, created Istanbul just to show us what Hell is like. The rent is ridiculous, there are waay to many people living in here. I mean c’mon, the 10 million of that 15 million should just go away. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them. I should stay. I should stay to study and work because Istanbul is the only place I can do the last two things. The other things necessary to live, sorry survive, such as having some place to stay, eating healthy, or going anywhere is just a big fat pain in the ass if you are in Istanbul. Sure it is a great cosmopolitan city with hundreds of years of cultural heritage blah blah blah… Just try to live in this rathole.

Then why the hell I am looking for a flat for myself if I hate Istanbul so much? Like I said, I need to study and work for one more semester. Oh and also, because of this motherfucker…

Meet G. As far as I know, he is the love of my life. For now. I mean who knows what will happen in the future. After all, I am a child of divorce. But for now, I love him much more than I hate Istanbul. Unfortunately for me… he wants to stay here.

G hates Istanbul as much as I do. But we both know the “business opportunities” in here are amazing. There are all kinds of firms, starting from US Fortune 500 to Turkish Fortune 500. Also I should mention that we are both graduating soon from a prestigious university majoring in a pretty sweet program: Management Engineering. They basically teach you how to be a boss. So you get why we “have to” stay in here. Where else can we go, especially after investing in our future for all those years?

Oh wait, PRETTY MUCH EVERYWHERE ELSE?!

We all watch those YouTube videos of people chillin’ in Bora Bora, renting a catamaran and just sail their troubles away. No I’m not talking about that. You kiddin’ right? I don’t have that kind of money. If I did, oh god I would not stay here for one second.

What I’m talking about is, anywhere else in Turkey is much much affordable to live compared to Istanbul. And we consist on living in here instead of, for example, Izmir — the awesomest city in Turkey. I’m not just saying that because I am from there. Or maybe I am. But think about this: If I already work on a computer everyday, and if it is in fact 2016, then WHY THE HELL AM I STILL COMING TO THE OFFICE??!

Don’t get me wrong. I love my job. I do. But I swear I can actually do the same stuff at home and just phone or teleconference people when I need to. Simple as that!

You know what? I think we should just do it. We should all just go to our bosses and say “I’m gonna work from home… for the rest of my life!” If we all go, they’ll just have to say yes.

While we’re at it, we should all just go to our landlords and say “You gonna lower that effin’ rent or I’ll be effin’ outta here!” and just drop the mic right there. We will all either be homeless, or start a new economic crisis. But the rent will be loweeer!
