Fnatic G1 Flick: What up now Swedes??? (Mouse Review)

The first line of gaming gear from the established eSports company “Fnatic”, and now I’m gonna review their FPS gaming mouse the “G1 Flick.” Although Xtrify is a much more known brand I was only able to get my itching hands on this bad boy from Fnatic! Courtesy of Fnatic Mushi!

Let’s start off with the dimensions [12.6x6.81x3.99cm] Medium-Large sized hands can rest comfortably well on this, but I have known people with small hands to still use it well considering it has an easy grip shape, rubber coating and an even weight distribution of 90g. The sides of the mouse both have an inward curve the serves as the main grip. Personally these are better rather than the rubber side grips just because those type of side grips have tendencies of either being smudged in as is the issue with the Rival 300 or even with my Mionix Castor it gets very slippery.

Mouse buttons are Omron switches, as for the individual clicks Left and Right mouse buttons have a slightly deeper actuation than my Mionix Castor (which is my other Omron switch Mouse) but feels good to press. Mouse 4 and 5 as with the other clicks of the G1 Flick have a slight resistance and is elevated enough the thumb rest that you won’t accidentally click them but won’t be difficult to press when needed to. There’s also a DPI button which has some resistance to press as well as out of the way of the index and middle finger so you don’t accidentally click it. My only nitpick about this mouse would be the scroll wheel, the scroll steps are defined but the scrolling feels very heavy and hard to move. If you play CS:GO like I do and set your jump to the mousewheel I can do bunnyhops with my Zowie EC-1A easier but not with this.

It is also equipped with the “Pixart 3310 optical sensor”, personally I don’t have the technical know how on what differentiates these different sensors but I’ve put in about a month’s time on this mouse and it feels very responsive to the flick of my wrist to the slightest of movements. This mouse does not have any form of acceleration as well which is always a bonus as acceleration just makes you wobbly or inaccurate in games especially FPS.

At the bottom can be found 4 small oval mouse feet, With most of my mice you’d see 2 wide mouse feet or 4 moderately sized ones that give a good smooth gliding for the mouse but these feet are well made and elevated enough that you can’t tell the difference, I’m not sure why Fnatic decided to push with small mice feet it works well but I still prefer the slightly larger ones to make it glide much more smoothly.

One more important point is the mouse cable, it is that of a hard braided cable that doesn’t bend well to my movements, even with a mouse bungee. There’s some difficulty with taming the cable. It could be that it needs more breaking in.

Pros:

Simple, Ergonomic and ambidextrous design

Coated device throughout the entire build

3 LED indicators for DPI

Fnatic Software allows for easy customization of the buttons

Cons:

Scroll steps do not feel smooth to roll

Braided cable is rigid

Side buttons only usable by right handed people

Final Verdict: The Fnatic G1 Flick has potential to be one of the great mice of 2016. The weight is evenly distributed and it’s surprisingly light even for it’s medium size at 90g. The mouse clicks need a bit more actuation to register but all in all it’s not that big of a difference they still feel tactile and good to press. The scrolling could use a bit more tweaking as I found it slightly difficult to use in games where I need precise and light scrolling such as CS:GO, but in casual use it is alright. The sensor is of course the Pixart 3310 as I am not an expert in this I can only say that when I do flicks I do not spin out, as well as precise aiming it doesn’t go over where I want it to go that’s good enough for me and priced at $57 (2,700php) is a very competitive price against other gaming mice of its price point. I give this mouse a 7/10.

Important Note: The mouse 4 button on this particular unit that I was able to acquire had some difficulties registering my clicks. This might just be my unit or could be an issue when manufacturing the mouse.
