As someone who can ‘afford’** a $1200 dresser, I agree with garli and jane: buy something used. Even something old that’s been refinished — we live near a couple of places that refinish vintage/old furniture ans resell it.

If you really want new, and you have one nearby, I’d at least look at Costco — they don’t always have bedroom furniture, but when they do, it’s ~$200 less than the online prices (bc the online price includes shipping).

**meaning: that amount wouldn’t change anything significant about the spending for the rest of the year, but it would displace something this quarter. we do not own any $1200 dressers, because we can’t justify that amount.
