Thank You Legs

Today I thought I’d try something new. I’m going to spend some time thanking my body for all the things it does and allows me to do, instead of brooding on the negatives.

Today I’m thankful for having two fully functional legs.

My legs have allowed me to do some pretty cool things. They’ve allowed me to run cross country, swim miles upon miles, dance in numerous musicals and play in the rain. They’ve also taken me to some pretty amazing places! They allowed me to walk all around Rome, Ireland and the USA.

I’m thankful for all that they do for me. They keep me stable in a world that is not. True, there have been times when the weight of an emotion has caused them to buckle and send me falling to the floor, but that just shows that I also have heart. I can feel things. I can feel so strongly about things that even the strength of my legs is not enough to keep me upright. I am also thankful for that. For my ability to feel.

I’m sorry Legs that I think so poorly of you at times. I’m sorry that I often deem you as “not good enough” when in reality you are more than enough. Without you, I would not be able to experience the amazing things that I have. I would not have been able to climb mountains in Ireland. I would have not been able to run through the woods when I was feeling low. I would not have been able to do many of the things that I enjoy had it not been for you. Thank you legs. I promise that I will continue to try to love you for exactly the way you are, and not shame you for what I think you should be.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
