Childbirth

I wanted a natural birth but wound up having an epidural on both occasions.

The second time, the midwife calls the anaesthesist down. From the moment he opens the door, it is clear to me that he is enjoying his own wares. Like Doc Holliday, I know stuff.

I was never so happy to see anyone as I was to see Doc Henning at that moment with his bag of tricks. Did I care that he was loaded? Not in the slightest. All I wanted was to have that needle in my spine and I did not want the doc to be nervous. No way, José. I just wanted the pain to stop.

It’s more fun putting the babies in that pushing them out. A whole lot more fun.
