It irked me somewhat when Windows used that “My Computer” terminology. I felt talked-down to. Who else’s computer would it be?
I liked this article — I worked as a technical writer for 10 years. I understand the importance of words.
As you write, “You” is more casual. I personally prefer it.
And remember, the passive voice is to be avoided at all costs:
