Long live the agreeable Dane ! In America we call them “Canadians !”

Allow me to rephrase.

When I write “usually between bikes and cars”, what I really mean is “between me and cars”.

I pound the car, careful to inflict no damage, just a lot of noise, with the palm of my hand, as noisily as possible when they cut too close to the pavement.

Bicycles going straight ahead have the right of way over cars. The cars must stop and wait for the bicycles before turning right.

To avoid having to wait for bicycles the cars pull in real close to the pavement to force the bicycles to overtake to the left of the car, (my driving instructor told me expressely cut the cyclists off in this way) which I will usually do anyway when I see the car indicating right. Sometimes the car will start that right drift when the cyclist is already between the car and the pavement.

The problem is worse with trucks because the truck drivers are often in such a hurry that they don’t check for cyclists or they have a blind spot. Cyclists are frequently killed in this type of incident.
