What’s For Dinner

My 14 yr old son asks me this EVERY SINGLE DAY.

There is a pause in the conversation, his head turns towards me and for a brief moment I have the full blaze of his undivided attention, the attention I struggle to win at all other times.

(I can cook and so can he)

One day, about a year ago, I got home late about 8.30 pm and HE HAD ALREADY EATEN.

The wok was on the table with the remains of bolognese sauce in it that he had cooked himself.

Another day I arrived in the kitchen to find a mound of flour with an egg broken into it.

He had read a Youtube video on how to make homemade pasta. I do not eat pasta myself but the consistency was fine and he said it tasted good.
