Facetiousness aside, how would we improve education specifically for each student, with or without a federal department? Is there an alternate department that would be better at it, or at least adequate? NASA, DOE, DOD (which has a vested interest in better recruits)? What do the kids think will work? Isn’t it time to stop building buildings and reprinting ancient religious and sports texts of the “glory years” and start fresh with each student? What can be used to set solid foundations (not to be confused with minimum standards), yet allow flexibility and advancement for every school? It seems to be a more critical part of national security than the military industrial complex, yet with a miniscule budget in comparison.
