Instagram Stories lets you share more moments, more frequently — and not just the ones you want to keep on your profile. As you share multiple photos and videos they appear together in a slideshow format, which forms your story.

You can bring your story to life with text and emojis, and the photos and videos you share will disappear after 24 hours — so they don’t appear permanently on your profile or in the newsfeed in general.

Posting an Instagram Story to your own profile

Step 1: Ensure you have the latest version of Instagram installed.

Step 2: Click the circular plus icon on the left.

Someone needs to charge their phone

Step 3: Capture either a photo by clicking the shutter button once, or holding it down to take a video. OR you can use already saved clips/photos from your camera roll (from the past 24 hours only) by swiping DOWN to access the camera roll.

Step 4: Once you’ve captured your story, you can add some extra style by adding text or emojis on top of it.

Step 5: This step is important, remember to save your story to your camera roll by clicking the download button on the bottom right of your screen.

Step 6: Repeat all of the above to add additional stories and create a slideshow effect.

Here’s what a great story set looks like:

This series of Instagram Stories that we captured from the SKYWALK experience at the Sydney Tower Eye had over 980,000 story views + 51k likes on the normal Instagram post on the @Australia profile.

TIP: Remember to check the viewer stats on your Instagram Stories before they disappear after 24 hours, otherwise you won’t be able to access them anymore.
