Cybersex trafficking is a devastating form of modern slavery made possible by the rapid spread of the internet.
Here is a short version of Maarko’s true story:
Maarko (a pseudonym), an innocent child, led into cybersex because of money.
Yes MONEY.
The mother allowed a webcam into her home. An abuser paid the money to make the videos. And then they added Maarko’s sister and neighbours.
To make matters worse this is a borderless crime.
But, there is good news, IJM — International Justice Mission — helped the authorities in the Philippines rescue this child and he is happy and healthy, living in a safe house.
This is what childhood should be about.
