I blame cisnormativity. Like, most people are cis, that’s always going to be true. That means that most people won’t understand what being trans or experiencing dysphoria is like, and consequently, in the absence of any real information, try to imagine why they would transition. But if you don’t experience dysphoria this doesn’t really make any sense, so then you get people arriving at the conclusion that every trans person is just really trying to be gender conforming, which is not the case at all.
