Stellar Photos is a browser extension that replaces your browser’s new tab page with one that displays a beautiful high-res photo from Unsplash.

It’s available for both Google Chrome and Firefox.

Every time you open a blank new tab, a new photo is displayed giving you a most pleasant break from the old boring new tab page that most browsers ship with by default.

The photos are loaded from a growing collection of photos that I put together, but you can decide to load photos from other existing collections (or create your own) in addition to (or instead of) the default collection.

Just add the collection IDs in the appropriate field

In addition, you can search Unsplash’s database of over 280,000 photos and download anyone of them directly to your computer.

If you prefer, you can save any image you like to Dropbox so it can sync to all your devices ready for use whenever you need it!

There’s also a neat History feature that shows you the images from the last 10 tabs you opened. Just in case you see an image you like but forgot to save it, you can make use of this feature to access the image and save it from there.

Finally, you can view the current local weather information for your city, or any city of your choosing by entering the appropriate coordinates in the options.

I’d love to hear any feedback you might have. Install the extension and tell me what you think!

You can also contribute to its development by sending a pull request on GitHub.
